What I do:
What I am NOT and cannot assist you with:
Students: You can begin by exploring your interests and various occupations to get a sense of what might suit you. For some of you that exploration will lead to university or college, or you might be drawn to a trade. Others might be thinking about working right after school, so you want to know your options for work experience and apprenticeships.
Parents & Guardians: If you would like to be added to the grad class email list for post-secondary updates and scholarship information, please let me know at: [email protected]
Community Scholarships and District Awards
Application forms and a list of Burnsview Community Scholarships/ Awards and the District Authority Scholarships will be available after Spring Break and will be found in the Scholarships tab above as well as in the Red Scholarship Binder in the Career Centre. I will also post them in the main hall beside the Career Centre.
There are a few scholarships with October- December deadlines. See the Red Scholarship Binder for a sample of last year's scholarships so you can start preparing for them early.
Student Loans
Canadian citizens can apply for an interest fee StudentAid BC loan if they register for 60 per cent of a full course load (about 3 post-secondary courses). Pay the loan back after you graduate from university/ college. Apply at: studentaidbc.ca/

What I do:
- Advise and assist you with exploring post-secondary options, scholarships, jobs and other opportunities.
- Help you research programs and admission requirements.
- Assist you with after graduation planning such as Gap Year, travelling, volunteering or working.
- Update information on this website under the Happening Now and Scholarships & Loans pages when I get new information.
- Send information to your Deltalearns email. Please check it so you don't miss out. Let me know if you wish your parent(s)/ guardian(s) to be copied on the email. Note: your deltalearns email account will expire after you graduate so don't use this when applying to post-secondary schools.
What I am NOT and cannot assist you with:
- I am not the Career Facilitator - Mr. Saare is. He will help you with high school apprenticeship programs (Work in Trades/ Train in Trades), work experience and dual credit programs.
- I am not the Career Life Connections teacher - Mr. Saare and Ms. Hlina are.
- I am not your grade's Counselor. I cannot change your courses or advise you regarding graduation and credits, but I can help you explore pre-requisite courses for post-secondary programs.
